Steve Smith in Silver & Black?

Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith wants out of Carolina. He reportedly wants a trade to the Chargers, Raiders or Ravens. Smith is more likely to be released and have his choice of teams. If that becomes the case, San Diego is a more logical fit for Smith. The Chargers are reportedly monitoring the situation much as they did with Bob Sanders, who ultimately signed as a free agent. Refreshing as it is to hear that a player wants to play for the silver and black again, unless Al Davis thinks Steve Smith is worth something in trade, he'll have better opportunities elsewhere. Could the Raiders have a roster spot for the 5-foot-9, 180-pound receiver with 52 career touchdown receptions? Back in March, Rick Drummond did a great review of the Raiders receivers that gives some perspective and insight. Of course, the Raiders drafted Denarius Moore also, so one has to wonder what role Steve Smith might play on a team chalked full of young receivers. Darrius Heyward-Bey is likely to get one ...

Silver Sage?

The rumor now swirling around the NFL is that the Raiders have inquired with the Minnesota Vikings about journeyman QB Sage Rosenfels. There are many potential reasons for such a rumor to be leaked. A) The Raiders are putting pressure on the Eagles and trying to drive down the price of Donovan McNabb. B) The Raiders are seriously considering Rosenfels as competition for Gradkowski, Russell and Frye. C) This rumor has no legs and it is simply just the product of the slow NFL offseason. The least likely of these reasons would be the first one. The Raiders front office personnel are a tight-lipped group and leaking a rumor doesn't really jive. If the Raiders are seriously considering Rosenfels, he would bring back memories of Gannon. The backup journeyman who always seemed to be productive when he got a chance. Rosenfels owns a career 62.5% completion percentage and 81.2 QB rating. His last two seasons in Houston he played 15 games, passed for 207 yards/per game, had 21 TDs and 22 IN...

DeAngelo Hall-elujah

Compensation has not been reached between Raiders and Falcons 5:19 p.m. Second AND Sixth Round draft choices for Hall confirmed by multiple sources. Contract Negotiation with Hall on going. 6:05 p.m. Once we get Hall, which it looks like it is done or near done, we are required to give him a new deal. We might try to give Aso and Hall deals at the same time and thus eliminate the ability to use either contract against us in negotiations. Still it might be a week before Hall is official since the trade is contingent upon Hall getting a new deal. That also frees up money from Asomugha's Franchise Tag which gives some cap space for the remaining lesser free agents and draft picks. Could we be banking on an uncapped year? This move is likely Washington's ticket out of town, but who knows what we decide to do. I guess the Raiders think the secondary was the problem in run coverage? Could be true, check out what Jason Jones said , "One of the big problems with the run defense ...
