ESPN's John Clayton reports Zach Miller has agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks. Adam Schefter confirms the contract is for five years and $34 million with $17 million in guarantees.
That's nearly $7 million per season of which about 3.4 million will be guaranteed. Al Davis simply couldn't match the Seahawks offer.

I'm too bummed to panic
ReplyDeleteI don't think this is a loss. We have evolved from the era of Miller bailing out the QB with check downs and dump off. The Tight End position approximately breaks down as Antonio Gates and then the rest. Anyone trying to convince me that there is a meaningful difference between a Celek, Boss, Miller, Olsen, Cooley player is blowing smoke. If we sign Boss the pass catching differential will be negligible and the run blocking will be improved. I know what I value more with our O line the way it looks right now
ReplyDeleteI don't think Al ever had any intentions of trying to keep Aso and Miller. If the draft, the rush to sign others before the lockout and the relative inactivity since last Monday were any indication, I don't know what was.
ReplyDeleteI know its a business, but it still makes me a little sad to see a few stabilizing forces on the team leave. Going to be a bit rough going for Hue Jackson and us fans in 2011.
